The agreement we make with you
These terms are the deal between you and The Cult: what we expect from members, what members can expect from us, and how membership begins and ends. They are written to be read — if anything is unclear, ask before you agree.

1. Who can join
- You must be 18 or older. This is absolute — attending, posting, and messaging are all conditional on verified adult membership.
- Membership is by application. Applications are read by real people, and we may decline one without stating a reason.
- Everything in your application must be true. Membership obtained with false information can be revoked.
2. Your account
- One account per person; accounts are personal and cannot be shared, sold, or transferred.
- Two-factor authentication is mandatory. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and second factor secure, and for telling us promptly if you believe your account is compromised.
- We may require re-verification if account activity suggests it is no longer under your control.
3. The standards you agree to
The Code of Conduct and the Consent Policy are part of these terms — agreeing to join means agreeing to both, at every event and in every digital space. The short version: consent is mandatory, discretion is mandatory, and a boundary is a complete answer.
4. Discretion
What happens in the community stays in the community. You agree not to disclose other members’ identities, images, or personal details outside it — including on social media, in screenshots, or in private conversation. This obligation survives the end of your membership.
5. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you post. You give us the limited permission needed to store it and show it inside the community — nothing more. We never publish member content externally.
- Images are human-reviewed before other members see them, and we may decline or remove any image without stating a reason.
- We may remove content that breaks the rules, and repeated or serious violations affect your membership (see Enforcement).
- Do not post content you do not have the right to share — especially images of people who have not consented.
6. Events
- RSVPs are commitments — repeated no-shows can affect your standing.
- Hosts’ instructions are binding at every gathering, and a host may ask anyone to leave at their discretion.
- Photography or recording at events without the explicit consent of everyone in frame is prohibited.
- Venues are shared with confirmed attendees only, and you agree not to pass them on.
7. Moderation and oversight
Safety here is actively managed, not assumed. You acknowledge that the moderation team can review member content — including direct messages, as disclosed in the messaging area and in the Privacy Policy — and that staff actions are recorded in an audit log. Reports are investigated by people, handled with discretion, and acted on.
8. Enforcement
- Depending on severity, violations lead to a conversation, a warning, suspension, or a permanent ban.
- Coercion, consent violations, discrimination, or violence mean immediate removal and a permanent ban — no warnings, no exceptions.
- We may suspend an account immediately while an incident is investigated.
9. Leaving
You can pause your membership or permanently delete your account at any time from the account page, no questions asked. Deletion is permanent. The narrow records that survive deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.
10. What we do not promise
The service is provided as-is. We work hard on safety, but we are a community, not a guarantee: you are responsible for your own choices and interactions, online and at gatherings. To the fullest extent the law allows, our liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service is excluded, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes
If we make a material change to these terms, we will notify members and give you the chance to review it — continued use after notice means acceptance. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms go through the contact form. A real person reads every message.
